The Carlson programs are loaded when the Carlson menu is loaded. The Carlson menu is named cs##base.mnu (for AutoCAD 2005 and earlier) or cs##base.cui (for AutoCAD 2006 to AutoCAD 2009) or cs##base.cuix (for AutoCAD 2010 and later) where the ## is the version of AutoCAD or icadbase.mnu for IntelliCAD. For example, in AutoCAD 2014 the Carlson menu name is cs14base.cuix. The Carlson menu is located in the Carlson SUP folder. The Carlson installation and desktop icons should automatically setup AutoCAD to load the Carlson menu. To manually load the Carlson menu, first make sure that the Carlson SUP folder is listed in the Support File Search Path under AutoCAD or IntelliCAD Options. Then run the menuload or cuiload AutoCAD command or the menu IntelliCAD command and load the Carlson menu. The Carlson SUP folder is under the Windows user folder such as:

Trying to restore the classic menu to AutoCad Architecture 2021. My hard drive died, so I did a new installation, but have copies of previous CUIx files. I am displaying the Menu Bar, But it only shows Files Windows Help. No tool menu, so no way to load toolbars. Delete all files with the extension.mnr from the folder that contains the file acad.cuix. In order to see the.mnr files in this folder, you'll need to select the All Files option from the Files of type menu.
The Carlson menu has over 80 pull-down menus for the different Carlson programs. Each program has its own set of pull-down menus. The menu set for one program is active at a time. To switch current program menu, choose the menu from Settings>Carlson Menus or choose from the Modules toolbar.
By default, the Carlson menu is setup as the Main Customization File in AutoCAD. To setup the Carlson menu as the partial menu,
1. Start AutoCAD with Carlson by using the Carlson desktop icon
2. Run CUILOAD and unload all the menus. Then load your Main Customization File. Then load the Carlson menu.
3. In Carlson Configure->Startup Settings, turn on No Menu Reset.

How To Get Toolbar In Autocad
For AutoCAD 2012 and higher, Carlson ribbons are available. Ribbons are like advanced toolbars. These ribbons are defined in the Carlson menu and can be accessed by setting the AutoCAD Workspace to one of the Carlson default workspaces such as Survey. Use the AutoCAD workspace command or toolbar to set this workspace. You can also use the CUI command to activate the Carlson ribbons and workspaces.
Even though we are in the era of the Ribbon, you may still want to use certain toolbars. Here are 3 ways to access toolbars
- If you have ANY docked toolbar visible, right click in an empty toolbar area (but not on a visible toolbar), and from there you can choose a toolbar from the menu that appears. Each loaded menugroup will be listed.
- If you do not have any docked toolbars but your Ribbon is enabled, go to the View tab on the Ribbon and find the User Interface panel, then the Toolbars dropdown. Choose the toolbar you want here.
- Lastly, you can use the command line method, using the -TOOLBAR command (note the leading hyphen). When you use -TOOLBAR, you must know the exact toolbar name you want to make visible, but this command has many options. You can dock the toolbar or make it floating. If you make it floating, you can specify the exact location using screen coordinates. If you accept the defaults location (0,0) the toolbar will appear in the upper left corner of your primary monitor. If you want to specify a different location, be aware that the values increase as you move left and down. So if you specify a location of 300,500, the toolbar will be placed 300 pixels to the left and 500 pixels below the upper left corner of your primary monitor.
Of course the power of the -TOOLBAR command is that you can script this using a menu macro or lisp routine to place multiple toolbars exactly where you want to. If you watch the prompts on the -TOOLBAR command, you’ll see that you can hide toolbars also, so it’s possible to setup some shortcuts to show and hide various toolbars – which should be quicker than switching workspaces.
